Thanks to all of you for your amazing contributions for making this project such a success, with a special shout-out to Scott SH (backer #750) and Brandon P (#800), and of course a double dose of delight from Dan K, whose pledge pushed us over the $40,000 mark and unlocked our Asgardian Steeds! We've already shared the preview art for gullinbursti, but I've just finalized the artwork for the thunder goat tarngrisner this morning, and I'm delighted to share it with you courtesy of longtime LG artist Peyeyo! 

The Nordic Monsters project ends this Thursday, and we encourage you to help give us one final push to all of your friends and fellow gamers out there so they can become a part of this project too! Please like and share wherever you see it on your social media!

Hi all and welcome to the second half of Nordic Monsters! As we accelerate toward the finish line, we keep on stacking up backers and funding and look to be on track to be our biggest Kickstarter project since Mediterranean Monsters, and that is thanks to all of YOUR support, including Shawn H (backer #650) and Jason (backer #700)! Best of all, Francisco RBA pushed us over the $35,000 mark to unlock ANOTHER amazing stretch goal, this time not bringing in new monsters but instead new monster rules to make the biggest bad guys in your campaign really BIG!!! You'll find rules for towering titans trudging through obstacles that would restrain smaller foes and toppling across the battlefield in death to form massive obstacles. You'll find options to make boring old rock throwing much more exciting and dangerous, including raining destruction with their barrages, rolling rocks and bouncing boulders to lay down rubble and dead bodies. Even hurting such massive foes is a lot harder, and we hope these rules will make battling giants and their kin a lot more exciting at your table! 

Our next stretch goal gets back to the monsters but brings you allies suitable for heavenly heroes, as we bring you a pair of celestial companions in the golden gullinbursti and thunderous tarngrisner! If you're battling Jotuns, you may as well ride to battle AEsir-style!

ANOTHER Stretch Goal at the Halfway Mark!

Thanks to each and every one of our backers for making this project a signing saga of success so far in the first half! Lars S pushed us over the 600-backer mark, and we're already almost to 650, but we also want to salute Shank M. for pushing us past $30,000 and unlocking two more terrific linnorms! The smooth-scaled but savage shoal linnorm hunts the coastal seas, but where do all of these linnorms come from? They all hatch first and foremost as lindworms, their juvenile form, but slithering serpents grow swiftly as they drink in the power of the natural world and develop into their full, terrifying power! 

Next up in stretch goals is not so much new monsters but new monster rules for incorporating towering and titanic foes into your campaign. With all these jotuns and linnorms and more, you want to make sure that fighting big foes feels like a BIG DEAL, so we hope these will add some fun spice to your campaign! After that, we bring in Asgardian Steeds at $40,000, featuring the golden-maned gullinbursti and the thunderous tarngrisner!

ANOTHER Stretch Goal Down, as Scandinavia gets bigger!

Hi all,

Thanks so much for your amazing support for Nordic Monsters, with a special blast of the Gjallerhorn for Jared S. (backer 500) and Ian T. (backer 550)! Just like my way-back ancestor Vikings set sail and settled the icy shores of the deceptively named Greenland, thanks to all of you (and especially backer Trocero, who pushed us over the $25,000 mark) so you too are getting two terrific monsters from this subpolar subcontinent (okay, it's really polar too, but work with me here)! 

I've got to get out some new art orders for the sermilik and quvdlugiarsuaq, and based on how things are going, I probably had better add in some artwork for the $40,000 stretch goal just revealed of celestial steeds with gullinbursti the golden boar and tanngrisner the thunder goat! That's a little down the road, though, because next up we've got two terrific new linnorms to unleash at $30,000, so spread the word to all your friends and fellow gamers and let's make this beautiful bestiary even more LEGENDARY!!!

P.S. Not all monsters in this book are vicious predators! Some are quite gentle and kind, like the bjarndýrakóngur, painted by Roland Brown!

Hi all,

Thanks so much for each and every one of you who has supported Nordic Monsters so far, with special shout-outs to Antonio L (backer #400) and sayoney (backer #450)! We hope you are loving what you are seeing so far and are looking forward to making this book even bigger and better as we go along! 

Speaking of which, backer rempelstiltskin pushed us over the 400% FUNDED mark and unlocked our latest stretch goal, adding a pair of the sinister illhveli demon-whales to the bestiary! We showed off the early art for one of them in the last update, and this time around I thought it might be fun to show off some of the sensational sketch art we've got not just for the taumafiskur, the second illhveli we added, but also for some of the other killer creatures we've got coming like the original illhveli, the stokkul, as well as the glacier and flood trolls! Finished art is amazing, but I've always enjoyed the iterative process of seeing artwork come to life! In an age of AI slop, Legendary Games is always loud and proud of our support for real artists making your books look truly LEGENDARY!
