Nordic Monsters: A Bestiary of Scandinavian Legends

First Wave of Downloads Sent!

Hi all,

The first batch of orders are locked and we've sent through a ton of downloads already for Nordic Monsters! 

1. VTT items have mostly been sent through DrivethruRPG while PDF and Token Pack downloads have been set up on Backerkit and can be downloaded there. 
2. The new Nordic Monsters bestiaries themselves are still in production so no downloads are available for those yet, but tons of terrific add-on items are available for you! 
3. For those who have submitted your surveys, we've set the addresses to lock in two days. Double check to make sure your address is correct if you're ordering print books so we can get your books to you when they are ready to go! 
4. We still have 153 surveys not completed and 14 cards that errored in Backerkit. Make sure your card info is correct so we can get everything finalized!

We are excited to continue our tradition of fast fulfillment on this project and we are doubly delighted by how cool Nordic Monsters is going to be once you have it ready to use in your campaigns! 

As a final note, we are also gearing up for a special campaign directed mostly at our Tales of the Valiant fans (though there will be add-ons for 5E/5.5E fans as well): Valiant Monster Planet!We're running this campaign in partnership with our friends ad Kobold Press, as we continue building out our Legendary Bestiary series by adding THREE new ToV creature collections ideal for folks playing in the Midgard campaign setting!

• Nordic Monsters brings 90+ creatures from real-world Scandinavian sagas perfect for use in the Northlands!
• Mechanical Monsters has 140 creatures from steampunk to magical hypertech, constructs, clockworks, and mechanical fey, fiends, oozes, dragons, and more, ideal to enhance adventures in Zobeck, the Clockwork City!
• Hoard Monsters is perfect for any campaign where finding the treasure is just the start of the adventure, because the treasure might just be hunting YOU!

Orders are Locking on Backerkit!

Hi all,

We're at over the 70% reply threshold so we have hit the Big Red Button to start locking orders. There is a 48-hour window wherein you can make any last-minute changes before orders fully lock. Once they are locked, we'll charge the cards for those who have completed their surveys, and once that is done we'll be able to start sending out your PDFs! A few quick notes:

• If you haven't already, complete your survey! We still have over 200 folks who haven't finished their survey. Until you do that step, we won't be able to get your goodies to you! 
• Backerkit vs. DrivethruRPG: As noted in the Kickstarter, we'll be fulfilling our rewards through DrivethruRPG, so you'll receive links to get them through your downloads there. You'll also be able to download things directly from Backerkit once your order is locked. We'll send out announcements when things are ready. When you go to Drivethru, make sure you are logged in; the system update they did last year automatically times you out after a certain interval, so we've often had folks think they were still logged in but couldn't find their downloads because they actually weren't. 
• Nordic Monsters still in production! None of the versions of Nordic Monsters itself are complete yet, but they are getting close! You'll be able to download products that already are complete in advance, and we'll add Nordic Monsters downloads once they are available. Print fulfillment will send all items together when all are complete. 
• Selecting game systems for bundles: Backerkit is rolling out a new feature where if you've got a bundle of multiple books available for multiple systems, you can click just once and get all of the items for that system instead of having to click each one separately. Unfortunately, we missed the window to include that option in surveys for this campaign. We'll definitely be including that in future multi-system campaigns to make things easier!

Smoke Test Sent! Check your inbox!

Hi all,

Everything looks like it's lined up where it's supposed to be, so I've sent out the "smoke test" to 5% of our backers. Check your email inbox to see if you're one of the randomized folks and reply at your earliest opportunity. I'll check on things as they come in to make sure there are no issues, and once we've got a good sampling back we should hopefully be able to send out the survey to everyone on Sunday!

Backerkit Survey Submitted for Review! Plus, welcome Late Pledges!

Hi all,

We are one week out from completing Nordic Monsters and we've got updates for you! 

1. Our Backerkit survey has been completed and submitted for review. We might get it back by end of business tomorrow, in which case we can start sending out our "Smoke Test" to backers this weekend. At worst, we'll have the review done on Monday and can send it out next week. That's a simple test survey that goes out to 5% of backers to make sure everything is working correctly before we send it to everyone. 

• We want to welcome our new backers who have joined us since the Kickstarter ended last month through Kickstarter's "Late Pledges" feature. We hope you love the items you've pledged for as soon as they start heading out! We have 10 new backers already and please do continue to spread the word as we look to add even more! 
• Speaking of heading out, even before Backerkit gets finalized we did send out our first batch of PDFs to our backers at the EARLY BIRD Dirty Dozen Deluxe pledge level! Since that pledge was 5E only, we didn't need to wait for the Backerkit survey to see which system you wanted to order. Backers at that level can log into your DrivethruRPG account and all of your bestiary PDFs will be waiting for you, except of course for Nordic Monsters itself, which is still in production. Add-on PDFs also will not be there yet. 

We are continuing to collect all of the monster manuscripts from our authors, and the books are coming together delightfully. You are definitely going to have fun with these new monsters for your campaign! Thanks again for making this campaign a Legendary success! 

P.S. Our company website is currently still down due to some kind of DDOS attack that crashed the servers at our hosting service. We're still working on getting it resolved but not to worry; it will have no effect on fulfilling this Kickstarter or even our ability to continue publishing products and selling them through our partner sites like DrivethruRPG, the Open Gaming Store, Amazon, and Paizo.

You all have been truly legendary in your support and we appreciate each and every one of you! Special shout-outs to go John B (backer #850), makkelaine (#900), and our final backer Russell A (#920), with a double blast of the battle horn for "Sky" L for pushing us over the $45,000 mark and unlocking our final stretch goal, Even Greener Land! 

We'll be taking a night off to relax with the family at the end of the campaign, but we've already finished about half of our Backerkit survey and should have that ready to send out by the end of next week! You'll be able to select your preferred game system there, as well as paying shipping and ordering any extra items that strike your fancy! We'll be in touch soon with more information, including links for some items we may be able to send out early, but for now rejoice in another beautiful bestiary coming your way soon.

• Tales of the Valiant fans have a special QUICKstarter coming their way in June with Valiant Monster World, so keep your eyes peeled for that!
• Fans of D&D and Pathfinder, your next project will be the long-awaited Ultimate Horror, coming in either late June or early July! 

On a personal note, this project was near and dear to my heart. We've made many Legendary Bestiaries that salute the stories of gamers and their home cultures from around the world previously in Asian, African, Latin American, and Mediterranean Monsters, and this one was for me and my father's Danish lineage. He passed away during the project on May 1st, and this book is dedicated to his memory. Thanks for helping make this book another special memory, and love your loved ones as long as you can and as well as you can. Every day is a treasure, so take every chance to make it Legendary.
